Remember...

Today, we remember that ten years ago Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast! It was a horrible disaster for our part of the country.

Yet, even in disaster, blessing flourished! Our church was given the opportunity to serve evacuees and we gained many wonderful people who stayed at St. Alban's.

This demonstrates how God always draws life from death. We are resurrection people!

A Thought on Saturday Afternoon

"[B]ecause the value of pure thought, whether analytical or integral, has everywhere been more or less clearly recognized, provision was and still is made by every civilized society for giving thinkers a measure of protection from the ordinary strains and stresses of social life. The hermitage, the monastery, the college, the academy and the research laboratory; the begging bowl, the endowment, patronage and the grant of taxpayers’ money—such are the principal devices that have been used by actives to conserve that rare bird, the religious, philosophical, artistic or scientific contemplative." Aldous Huxley from The Perennial Philosophy

I thank God's people, the Church, for affording me the opportunity to think and pray!

Sunday, August 9

The 11th Sunday after Pentecost: Grant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Tuesday Morning Trouble Maker...

"I've just created a 24 hour period of alternating light and darkness," God told one of his angels.

"Wonderful!" exclaimed the angel, "So, what are you going to do now?"

"I think I'll call it a day," God replied.
