Baptisms of Manteo & Virginia Dare

On this day the Church celebrates the baptisms of Manteo, a Croatan Indian chief, and of Virginia Dare, infant daughter of Roanoke Island colonists. They are the first two people baptized into the Anglican Church in North America.
